Santa Suit

There are many traditions of Christmas time that make the holiday special for everyone. In the past religi celebration with dinner and dancing was most important. As the idea of Santa Claus took hold religion became less important to some, and the jolly Santa took over. Most traditions have both a celebration of religion and anticipation for what Santa will bring this year. The concept of Santa has its own roots in religion, with the man delivering gifts to those in need. Now of course Santa delivers to everyone around the world bringing wishes to fruition and gifts to every child. Santa lives in the North Pole with a sleigh and reindeer to guide him around the world. For Santa to survive in such a cold place he must have a suit to protect him. This Santa suit is as much a tradition as the idea of the mythical man. Christmas parties, gift giving, and other events cannot be complete without Santa Claus in his red suit attending. For many families the eldest person will don a Santa suit to deliver the gifts during a party or even during the night when all should be asleep. Kids tend to grow up believing in Santa Claus giving them the idea that he is a real person instead of a tradition based more on myth than reality in today’s world. If your children still believe in Santa you might need the items below to make that impression real!

  • Red Pants
  • Red Jacket with white trim
  • Black Belt
  • Red Hat with white cotton ball
  • Black Boots
  • White beard and eyebrows
  • Red Gift Bag

The Santa Claus suit is all red and white with a few black items to complete the picture. We have listed above the typical items for the creation of Santa Claus. You can often find the appropriate clothing at a rental costume shop or you can make your own. The best costumes are made with velour material, but cotton or fleece work just as well. The heavier the material the better as it helps you keep warm. A note, you might consider suspenders to keep the pants up, and pillows for padding to make yourself jolly.

School offers the idea of Santa Claus to children discussing, when they are old enough the real, Saint Nick and the myth that has come from this real man. Some schools even offer a dressed up Santa, usually the principle, who offers gifts to students. These gifts are usually small like pencils or other school material that is needed throughout the year. For your Christmas you might consider having Santa stop by next year in order to make the children happy.
