Christmas Lights

Christmas bulbs or Christmas tree lights are an essential part to decorating your home and the Christmas tree. Since the 16th century there have been lights on the Christmas tree. The first types of lights used were candles nestled into the tree branches. However, this was rather dangerous as the candles could set the tree on fire. In the 19th century there was finally technology that allowed for Christmas lights to be electrical and safer. It is these Christmas lights that we have adapted in the last century and even the last decade to offer more. The newest Christmas tree lights are LED, which means they tend to last longer.

Christmas tree lights have evolved from clear to multi coloured amazements. Most popular light colours are red, blue, green, and yellow. The strands of lights almost sparkle with their abilities because they don’t have to stay one tone. Many strands can cycle through steady colours to flashing or a slow turn from on to off. Icicle lights are another difference. These lights tend to be thinner and hang with more style than your typical strand. Now Christmas lights are not only used on the Christmas trees, but they are also used to decorate the roof, windows, doors, and outside foliage to awe the neighbourhood.

The C9 and C7 lights are the most traditional. These bulbs are larger to give more distance to the lights and so that passersby can see the lights with ease. There is still a level of concern one must have for the use of Christmas lights. A bare wire or chewing animal could cause a fire. It is essential to keep your lights in good shape, check them before you place them on the tree, and replace strands older than ten years.

You can compare the different brands of Christmas lights to ensure you are buying a better quality light, so that they will last longer in your home. Often times a cheaper strand will wear out earlier. The more information you have on the Christmas tree lights the safer you will be.

The best time to shop for Christmas lights is in an after Christmas sale. The lights are generally discounted and yet you still get a top quality product. You may ask around the shops and your friends to determine what the best product is. Also be aware of the restrictions on when you leave them on.
